Will I develop a problem with drugs/alcohol because one of my parents experienced a drug/alcohol problem?

It does not necessarily mean you will become addicted if you drink or use drugs. Some Studies have shown there are people who carry a hereditary trait. However, nobody knows for sure whether you will become an addict.

As an older adult I take sleeping pills. Should I be concerned about these?

As you get older, you become more sensitive to depressant drugs. Drugs stay in your body longer and a stronger effect. The less you use the better, is a good rule of thumb.

As a teenager I go to parties every week and get wasted. Am I heading for a problem?

It depends. For some youth this is merely a stage, a “right of passage” through to adulthood. For others it becomes a life long pattern. If you are getting “blasted” every weekend I would question, why you feel you need to do so. A qualified counselor could help you explore this issue.
