Your Privacy is Important to us

The Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of our clients and other stakeholders. We strive to be transparent, responsible and accountable in how we treat information.

Our protection of your privacy is reflected in the following ten principles:

  1. We will be accountable to you, our clients in how we use your information.
  2. You have the right to question why any information is collected and how it is used.
  3. Our services are voluntary. By providing us with personal information, you are consenting to the use of this information for the intended services.
  4. We will limit the collection of information to what is required for the purposes of collection.
  5. Your information will be used, disclosed and retained within our agency. In some cases, with your consent, information may be shared with individuals outside the agency.
  6. We will make efforts to ensure the accuracy of our records. You have the right to appeal any information that you feel is inaccurate.
  7. We employ safeguards to protect against unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification of your information.
  8. We maintain openness and transparency regarding the policies and practices of the agency with regard to your information.
  9. You have the right to view any information we collected about you. You do not have the right to view information about other individuals.
  10. Email communication is for information purposes only. Email is not secure and is not used to resolve crises. In this event, if unable to contact your counsellor/advocate/therapist directly by phone, please access your EAP or local crisis intervention services.

The Privacy Officer for the agency is Alan McQuarrie. If you have any concerns about privacy, please address these concerns to your counsellor.
